Hey mates, I am Seriously considering doing a JDM style front end conversion. The Legacy has some wicked front ends, and I wanted to know if anyone has ever done this! There are so many questions I needed answered: Will the bumper cover fit on outback reinforcement bar, will the grills swap, will the undertray connect the same to the subframe? ANY help or thoughts would be wonderful. I also want to add the Legacy scooped hood!


FYI: I don't want to "lower" or "slam" my car, nor make it a rice burner. I love my rugged outback! I just want to add that sporty mean look to it too!

The hood on US Outbacks and Legacy's are the same, except in the case of a Legacy GT which has a scoop. You may only need the bumper and grille.

According to RockAuto Parts Catalog the Legacy and Outback use the same part number for the bumper reinforcement beam, same for the energy absorber, on the 2012 anyway, they don't have enough 2013 information yet (or haven't populated the carryover 2012 information to the 2013).

FYI, Rockauto is a GREAT place to cross-reference part numbers as they list them clearly. Subaru Online Parts also sells parts like this but the part numbers aren't as easy to view for cross-reference.

I don't know for sure of Subaru's but I know that most of the JDM Honda products have a smaller reinforcement bars and the bumpers are shaped differently.

Me too Chris J! Except I only want to change the grill, not the bumper. Did you try fitting them before you did the whole grill/bumper swap?
