I have a 2016 and the lift gate beeps four times while opening. After it goes all the way up it drifts back down about 4 inches, this is not the memory feature since it goes all the way up first.
I wonder if it is telling me I need new support cylinders? I have never had those, what I call struts, go out that fast but that door is pretty heavy.
My question is, does the 4 beep signify that there is too much load? That would make me think that it is a strut issue.
And if so is it the support cylinders I need and not the position sensor?
Thanks

Does it do this all the time? Have you force by hand while opening?. I would try resetting the height adjustment then try again.

2015 lift gate goes all the way up then drops 2-3 inches then beeeeeeep

tried everything called dealer (45min away) been doing it for over 6 months
thought it was the memory button or setting
dealer helped me reset

final:

THE BEEEEEEEP IS A WARNING FOR A DROPPING LIFTGATE
BEEPS THEN STOPS TO PROTECT FROM GETTING CLAMSHELLED LIKE MY SIENNA DID ME

SOLUTION: NEW SUPPORT STRUTS

GET REPLACED MINE UNDER WARRANTY

NO MORE BEEEEEEP AND IT FULLY GOES UP

Yeah, I could have done without. Not sure by then you'll be able to get one, though.
