I recently purchased the 306-X7601 EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver from etrailer for my 2019 Subaru Outback. I'm now looking to add the 24x60 etrailer.com Cargo Carrier for ski/camping trips. The maximum tongue weight for the hitch is 525 lbs. But I'm a bit stumped at how I can translate that into my practical load weight for the carrier (which is roughly 48 lbs empty). I appreciate any help calculating this.

Edit: I've gotten a couple of conflicting answers. etrailer answered this question saying the tongue weight of the Subaru is 200 lbs, so that is the total load capacity (inclusive of the basket itself). However, a buddy who is a car guy and math geek, says that because baskets put the weight upwards of 2-feet farther out from the tongue that creates more stress on the tongue. He says to be safe to max out at 135 or you risk shortening the life of the tires. The physics of that seems to make sense. Still open to thoughts and practical experience of other owners.
