Is there a way that I can turn off the lock-out prevention on my '10 Outback? My dog is often with me and I sometimes need to lock the car with it running (i.e. for a/c or heat to run with her in there). Or is this something I need the dealer to do?

Thanks!

Flip DS lock lever next to the handle (not the power lock on the armrest) > close the door > you just locked yourself out.

The solution here is so obvious, everyone is missing it:
Train your dog to unlock the doors on command.
Next question.

I tried this but as soon as I pushed it to lock it popped back to unlock. I was actually getting quite angry at it - even holding it down and trying to beat it getting out. Looking quite funny all the while!

Don't know about a 10 but on my 13 I carry the valet key and manually lock the door when I have the car running in the driveway and run back in the house to grab the rest of my stuff.
