Long beep from power tailgate after opening

Hi! I searched on this but haven't found an issue similar to mine. I've got a 2015 Outback with a power tailgate. I'm not having any issues, but in the past few months, occasionally when the tailgate is opened, it puts out a single long beep. The tailgate operates normally and opens and closes fine--but I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It seems to be sporadic as well--it doesn't matter if the car had been running or not, opened from the fob or button in the car, etc. and doesn't happen everytime either.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The long beep means that the tailgate has been interrupted by a perceived obstacle and decided to stop for safety reasons.

Your gate might require lubing or alignment. Mine did this once (opened halfway, halted with three short beeps, tried to self-close, couldn't, long beep stop - was able to manually fully open and close it myself by hand), had Subaru have a look at it, and it hasn't done it again since.

This is happening to my 2015 Outback now. Did you ever figure out what's going on?

I’m having the same issue! Sometimes my liftgate will drift down unexpectedly as well.

Maybe you need new struts. I just replaced mine for about $50.
