Hello, I have a 2011 outback, limited edition without navigation system. It does not seem to come with usb port. Is it possible to add usb port to this model for the purpose of listening to mp3 audio files (usb stick)? I looked at part 86257AJ201 but the website selling it said that the part for my car (based on vin) is 86257FG100. I already have that and it is only the 1/8" jack. If not, what are my options? I try to steer away from using the jack which would force me to use my phone while driving (+ wire mess).

the 86257B is the one that is 1/8" jack only, the "A" is both 1/8" and USB.

it looks like you also need 86273 connection cable for that faceplate.

I do not believe it is possible to upgrade your stock head unit to play audio directly from a USB stick.

I'd buy a dedicated mp3 player, and connect it to your audio jack. Amazon has them cheap.

Or you could replace your HU with an aftermarket one that plays Mp3s

Hope this helps.
