I have 2000 model Outback with 6-CD changer.
The changer stopped recognizing CDs while 6 CDs are in it. Whenever I start engine, it tries to do something and I hear noise of smashing CDs . (I disabled CDs by removing the fuse.)

Does anyone know how to take out the CD changer unit from the car so that I can work on it? I found instructions for Imprezza but that that insturctions do not seem to work for Outback.

I'm sure Scoobymods.com has the answer you are looking for. But I think in general if you are real careful, you can pry the console bezel toward you to get things started and there should be screws that hold the changer in place and such. Brian

Thank you for the information. I did find the instructions there!

But the instructions requires very fine detailed job that I won't be able to perform, like unscrewing the screws facing downward in a tiny ash tray space. I reluctantly decided to pay $65 to the dealer to do the job :-(
