I have a 1997 outback. It seems to have a few gremlins in the system lately. These appear more on a ho day. Upon start up when the engine is cold, the motor will somtimes sound really rough and just stall. It is more common fo it to drive perfectly for about 100 metres before it starts to play up. Symptoms are things like stalling, the car jolting and a total lack of power to the engine and power steering. Sometimes it stalls about 5 to 10 times before it sorts itself out and it seems to go back to mormal an drive great again once the engine gets hot. Any ideas what might be happening???

4) Codes? (get them read first please, they usually start with PO###)
Your problem could be literally 100's of things.
Answer these questions and we can narrow it down for you.
Off the top of my head a vacuum leak would be suspect. Any hissing when the engine is running?

I'd put engine temp sensor on the list of possibilities.
