Even if a 2010 had a mechanical failure of the parking brake system I would be pushing Subaru to step up and cover some or all the cost. I doubt they would balk at it assuming the failure was not related to some sort of brake pad abuse like locking up the parking brake while the car was moving etc.

Neighbor just spent $1200 having her BMW towed to the dealer and getting a reverse switch replaced. **** car wouldn't shift into gear to exit the driveway. I'll take a simple electric parking brake in a subaru any day over the BMW adventures she's been through the past two years. Pretty sure she could have paid for half a new subaru at this point with her BMW repair receipts.
