The pans are RTVed from the factory. You do not need to use a gasket. Get a tube of Permatex Right stuff, put on a bead and seal it up.

New oil pan gasket split.
Hello everyone first post here. Need some opinions if this is going to be ok or if I should replace it again. 2001 outback LL. Pulled oil pan, cleaned mating surfaces then ran a bead of RTV about 1/8-3/16" around the pan, put the gasket on and bolted everything back up 5ft lbs all the way around but the gasket split in several places. I've never seen a gasket do this.
Thoughts? Might have to pinch and zoom to see the splitting
