Hello all,

I am a fresh Subaru Outback owner. I just picked up a 2006 Outback with 44k miles on it. Little old lady owned it and never drove it. Great car, looking forward to many adventures with it.

Any pointers or tips would be welcome. I know about the head gasket issue and am planning on getting that done asap along with timing belt and water pump etc. I would like to lift it about 2" in the future.

Have a good one.

Welcome from a fellow Oregonian.

The miles are indeed low, but don't forget that the timing belt is supposed to be changed at 104k miles / 104 months, whichever comes first. If it hasn't been changed, I'd get that done ASAP; you're on borrowed time!

Welcome

You bought the best model run, But I am very biased. The Gen3 have some suspension issues that can be corrected and some other finicky things like wheel bearings. Some have had some head gasket issues.

The best thing is to keep up with maintenance.

Change your transmission oil, and the differential oils. make sure things like the alignment bolts are not frozen. Do the things that little old lady never did, since she never drove it.

if the tires are 10 years old, I'd consider replacing them.
