I have a 2000 Outback with a 2.5L. I have a pritty good oil leak comming from the front of the engine. Looks like the front main crank seal or the oil pump. I got the engine replaced 40,000 miles ago.

oil pump, crank seal or the cam seals. they should have been done along with the timing belt when the engine was installed.

when was the timing belt done?
it is due every 105k miles.

I know for a fact that the oil pump and all the seals were replaced when the engine was installed 40,000 miles ago.

There are also 2 Wristpin access plugs on the front of the engine that can leak over time. Have to take the timing cover off to have a look at where the actual source of the oil is.
They are large plugs that take a 14mm hex socket.
