Hi everyone I have a 12 outback 2.5i which has been overheating since dec and have replaced the waterpump timing belt radiator therm twice and did a coolant flush. We decided to leave the therm out and see what happens and after the flush it ran great no issues for about 4 days. Decided to put a new therm in and all the sudden no hot hair coming out of vents and upper hose hot lower cold and blowing coolant out of the overflow. So frustrated and need some suggestions to anyone willing. Thank you!

atypical for a 2012 Ej253 to blow exhaust gases into the collant,...but atypical for a 2010-12 to have head gasket problems in general.

any check engine lights, ? flashing check engine lights = misfires?

did they ever do a cooling system pressure test?

with this bunch of overheats you maybe out to get a whole used replacement engine, from a 2010-12 outback or legacy.
maybe from LKQ or car-part.com places.

(pumping exhaust gas into the overflow,...it that is what it is

sounds like a bad overheat,...and not worth doing head gasket work on it).

We have done a pressure test twice and a block test both were fine. All bezel lights are on and flashing. No misfires really no symptoms of blown head gaskets other than overheating.

Did you ever figure this out? Having the EXACT same problem, head gaskets done ~10,000 miles ago.
Check for leaks, air, radiator, tstat and radiator cap need to be OEM.

Headgaskets - they can repeat fail if not done right.

What brand headgasket was installed?
Who did the work?
Were the heads resurfaced?
What prompted the first headgasket replacement?
