Knock sensor

Hi all,
My '96 2.5l just thru the say code - Knock Sensor.
It's not expensive to replace, but I don't know where it is located!
I have an SVX also, and it's knock sensors are easy to see and get to. They(2 on the 3.3l motor), are on the top of block, under the intake manifold.
Where is the 2.5l motors' knock sensor? Can anyone please tell me?!
Thanks, milehibri - Brian

Knock sensor

FOUND IT!
It is located at the back of the block, drivers side, directly under the accelerator cable/cruise cable/throttle bracket.
The bolt has a 12mm head and is facing directly up at you. The connector is white. Makes it easy to find, once you have the new sensor in your hand.
Hope this is helpful for someone in the future.
By the way, Subaru wants about $55-60 wholesale. But there are other sources available for it. I picked it up for $48.
Thanks, milehibri - Brian

p0325 knock sensor

Found the info above very useful. unscrewed the sensor, scotch-brited its metal bottom and the spot on the block where it bolts to and torqued it back to ~16ft/lb and the check engine lite went off ! Glad I didn't rush out & buy a new sensor. Hopefully this is a good fix and the problem will stay away a while. If not, thanks all the same.

P0325 code but no check engine light

Hello All,

I just had my car do a random scan on the ODB 2 and a code is stored for P0325 , knock senor malfunction. However I do not see a check engine light,. Last time i had one was when i did not properly tighten the gas cap, after tightening the cap CEL turn off. . Anybody know why i dont have a check engine light on? ,

reply's appreciated

either your light doesn't work or more likely ....... it's a pending code.

malfunctions need to meet certain criteria before setting a cel/mil. your car will at times set a pending code and if the problem doesn't recur within a specified cycle it will clear it itself.

if it's reading as a set code it should light up on the dash. your scanner should say codes and pending codes.

When you start the car see if the CEL illuminates and then goes out. Then you'll know if the light is working.

Just changed the knock sensor and found a HUGE diference performance wise, haven`t completed a full tank yet, so I'm not sure how's the mileage. Any other tips on mods for improving mileage?

also you might notice a big improvement on your fuel mileage. since changing m running on 11L/100Km and did a highway trip for around 300km and the mileage was 9.3L/100Km, amazing.

 You all sound like it is easy, like you do not remove the intake manifold.
Maybe it is just me and my 64 yr old hands but I sure can not bend my hands like what is needed. Am I wrong or missing something?
