I have a 2003 outback sport, 5 speed manual. Just recently, I have been having an issue. This only happens when I "gun" it and the RPMs go over 4000 (but not if I slowly work my way up to 4000). When I rev it up, it starts to stall-go-stall-go-stall-go, kind of jumping. There is no noise associated with this problem. It just kinda starts stuttering/sputtering when I floor it.

Do you all think its misfiring on a cylinder? It doesn't happen when my wife drives the car (its her car) but she doesn't drive as aggressively.

It sounds like it's starving for either fuel or air. Check the filters.

Thanks! I will give that a try. I think fuel should be pretty new, I'll try air first.
