I need to tow a U-haul across country, so I paid my local Subaru dealership to install a tow hitch on my mother's 2019 Subaru Outback 3.6R (to the tune of $700).

When the work was done, I was surprised to see that the hitch is much smaller than the one that came standard on my Cayenne. I figured a hitch is a hitch. Was I supposed to specify small, medium, or large? ;-) How many tons is this hitch rated for? According to the invoice, the hitch part number I received is L101SAL013.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Class I hitch. Subaru only rates the car up to 2700lbs (with trailer brakes) and a 200lb tongue weight (regardless of hitch specs). So their hitch matches those ratings in North America.

Perfect. I had already sized a trailer to those limits, so it looks like I'm good to go.

Thank you!
