So your in your car and you have to park and wait for somebody or something. Most people like to listen to the radio while waiting in the parked car. For some reason, the engineers decided to turn the WHOLE car off, including the radio, when you hit the stop/start button. One then has to depress the start stop button, AGAIN, to turn the radio back on. Over the course of this extra movement, you lose 4.5 seconds of radio play. WTF:crying:.

Any fixes for this:grin2:

And @eagleeye razzed my Azz for my dilema's dealing with new car problems.

If your quick, you can prolly get that delay down to 2-3 seconds of lost listening time. Or wait for the inevitable 5 minute commercial break every 1/2 hour

Who wants to have to remember all that stuff? The radio should stay on when I turn the car off. Except when I don't want it to. Then it should turn off.

You got that right; Down here they think that the melted cheese you put on nachos at the gas-station is the real stuff.

I love Wisconsin; I have camped many a night across the state and if it wasn't so cold in the wintertime it would be a nice place to live. We used to scuba dive up around Baraboo and do some canoeing around Eau Claire.

Trade in for a 2018. You’ll never be able to turn off the radio.
I thought it was my car malfunctioning. Went to dealer. Told that is the way it is. I said "you have to be kidding". What engineer thought of not being able to shut the radio?

I have been thinking on that, trying to come up with valid reasons on why they decided that was a good idea. From other postings the folks at Harmon Kardon apparently said that it was a specific request from Subaru to disable the power-off function.

The nearest semi-rational reason I could come up with is that they are using the vehicle sound system for other things (notification warnings, integration in to the CAN bus for service info, etc...) Maybe if you start up the car and the HK system is shut down the CAN bus has a hard time because it is missing a critical component that it is trying to send data to.
