Hey all,

I finally got real plates for my Outback and realized the dealer overtightened one of the bolts into the plastic inserts, and now they are both spinning together.

I tried wedging a second flathead screwdriver underneath while I was unscrewing, but no luck. I did a quick search and didn't find anyone else having this issue.

I am open to suggestions before I take bolt cutters or try to drill it out.

Thanks!

Grab the plastic insert with a pair of needle nose Vise Grips.

I have wedged a flat head screwdriver between the head of the screw and the plastic and turned the screwdriver to provide pressure on the insert. You probably won't be able to safely squeeze the screw driver beneath the plate without scratching the paint, but you may try between the plate (which is probably paper?) and the screw head. Worth a try.
