i have a 2000 legacy outback, and there is a substantial amount of rust on the rear wheel wells/quarter panels. im not sure whether it will be cheaper to repair the rust, or to just try to find new quarter panels. anybody have suggestions where to find them or what u should do?

Same problem here! My car is coming on 300K and running so well!...I'm afraid it will rust rust away before it dies! Would love to find a solution.

Unless you are a talented welder with a lot of time on your hands, it's almost always cheaper to replace the car than to repair the rust. The rear quarters are notoriously difficult to replace, and when they are rotted there's usually a lot more hidden underneath.

Enjoy it while you can, and take satisfaction from knowing that you got your money's worth and then some.
