Soooo.... I seen a greyish Subaru OB (08-09 maybe) today with red emblems today(5mins ago). It looked....very nice, very sharp(I want it!). Ive seen them on wrx's before, but not an OB. Id take red over blue any day! I love red!:17:

Where in the heck can I get these at?!?!?! When I seen it, all I could think of is how nice they would look on my OB.

Alright, I have completed my emblems. Red with chrome stars, it turned out very nice.
Total cost was around $20 for sand paper(100, 200, 400<---(came in a multi pack) 800wetdry, 1500wetdry) and paint and 3m molding tape

I used krylon for plastic.

Over all id have to say this whole process was a pretty big pain in the arse.

It took around 5 hours from taking it off - painting.

The rear emblem was Very hard to get off, the front was no so bad

Would I do this again know how hard it was going to be?....I dont know.

If i didnt have to sand it it might have been easier, but i didnt want to use something that would jack my emblem up.

I can take pictures if anyone would like to see.

So you de-badge the -entire- rear star emblem (to mod)?
How did that go underneath, any paint damage/scars/discoloration?
Sure, pics pls.

It wasnt easy at all.
In the back the chrome going around it did take some damage. Not much damage at(im pretty anal.).

No damage on the front

I have to wait till i get home to take pics.

Now once again....im going to tell you people... This wasnt the easiest thing to do. It is very easy to harm things while doing this.

The easiest way to get the tape on the other side of the emblem to come off/stretch is to use a nice and hot blow dryer. when you can see the tape on the back stretching use a razor/ knife to cut it and weaken it so you can cut the rest. But to get the emblem to the being able to see/stretch the tape part is on you.

Once you get the emblems off put a big peice of tape on the glossy(outside)
part of the emblem so you dont have to worry about it scratching if you drop it or what not.

People just becareful doing this people.

I would rather not give advice on how to get the emblems off. or on how to get the paint on the back off. I used the safest/most time consuming way(sandpaper). Im sure theres better ways(though thinners may melt or cloud the plastic just to let you know).

also. if your taking the front emblem off you can pull that section of the grill off (that requires you to drop the bumper. but you can put the oval emblem out from the back too once it is heated up :)

still waiting for photos.... (joking)

You dont see the edges after you put it back on, if your talking about the chrome edges, it all pretty deeply inlaid. i took the sand paper in one hand the emblem in the other and rubbed them together(like rubbing your hands together to get warm) after you get most of it like that then you get in and do detail work do that with the grit i said above in my first post after i got it done. I only went up to 1500. you COULD go up to 2000 but i dont see any reason why you should .

With the 800 and 1500 get it wet and sand it like that.

It takes a while. Im sure that there are thinners somewhere but i didnt want to take any chances screwing my stuff up.

I used 3M molding tape(the red backed kind, it was either 3 or 6 meters) to put it back on
