Will be trading this car in by the end of the year so would like to either do this myself or consider the most economical way to fix the gasket in the muffler. As you can see in the photo, the flange and nuts are heavily corroded.

Would you weld it or try to replace the gasket? How hard is it to replace the gasket? Would like to tackle this myself but I suspect the bolts will be a pain in the a$$.

Get that to a muffler shop and have them put in a joint of pipe without a joint. Should be cheap.

Thanks for the tip. I took the car into a muffler shop and they said the Outback would need a flex pipe welded into the front near the manifold if he where to path in a piece of new pipe where the hole is. Otherwise it would snap off. Was quoted $210 and told him I would think about it. Does this sound about right?
