2013 outback Exterior of driver side reverse light assembly was damaged and need to replace entire assembly. How to access?

The reverse lights are in the "rear finisher assembly". R&R of that housing is more involved but not complicated.
See this link, look at the 2nd or 3rd answer.

I recently had the rear gate garnish off which involved all the same work it takes to get to the lamp housings. I will tell you the 4 blue plastic tabs across the top of the garnish all broke their attachments when I tried to pull them off. Maybe the plastic on your car is not as embrittled and you will have better luck than I did. Good luck.
Btw, if the rubber trim at the base of the tailgate glass is all worn and crumbling, this is a good opp to replace that. I forgot to order a replacement when I had mine apart. Doh!
