I have an 07 Subaru Legacy Wagon 5 speed manual in Newport Blue Pearl with only 85000 miles on it. I bought it new 9 and half years ago. I still think it is one of the best driving Subaru's ever built. The main issue I have with it is that the seat has never been comfortable and I have wanted to upgrade to a new Legacy or Outback. I have test driven several different trim levels but I still find the driver's seat uncomfortable and my back starts hurting after a few minutes of driving. I currently use a memory foam cushion to get by on road trips. I have contacted Subaru representave's and just say seat comfort is all about the individual and apparently don't want to make changes. There are several other brands with more comfortable seats for me but they are not has much fun to drive. I may have to buy a Nissan Altima or Chevy Impala. Does anyone have any ideas on modifying or replacing the driver's seat?

my only suggestions would be to investigate Obus Forme' products. Try to get one from amazon or some source that will allow returns if you don't like it.

also, do you keep a wallet in your back pocket? try a few weeks with it in a front pocket.

I know 2 people that like their backrests. One just uses it in their office, the other moves it from car to office and back again every workday.
