What are the signs of a 4EAT failing? My vehicle tends to shift hard nearly every time it shifts, significantly worse uphill. I haven’t experienced it slipping out of gear, except for making a fast hard right turn. The car also hasn’t shifted into the incorrect gear either. I recently did the fluid exchange, resealed the pan, and changed the external filter. There were no large metal shavings, but there were small ones, similar to when you drain a differential with a magnetic plug. The fluid was god awful black when I did do the service, though. Prior, It would have a tendency to run low, but since I did the service, the transmission fluid level hasn’t dropped at all. I had a buddy who is a relatively experienced technician tell me these are normal behaviors of the 4EAT, and that the hard shifting could be coming from the mountings, but I’m not 100% sure. I would love to hear some other opinions.
