Dear friends,
I have a 2009 outback. The car just stopped one day and was advised by my Mechanic that it was an engine knock. I bought a slim engine but it still has a slight engine noise on the right hand side near the battery.
My mechanic told me to top up and buy a new engine but I couldn't raise the amount hence opted to go with the car as it is.
I would like some advise as below;
1. How long do i have considering the knocking sound is still very mild.
2. Is there anything I can do to ensure i dont buy a new engine?

Is it a knock or a tick? Can you post a video? If its a tick, it's normal, just need to have the valves adjusted which could have been done a lot easier with the engine out of the car.
