With vacation season approaching, I know I need to expand the cargo capacity of our Outback.

Really don't want have to deal with storing a hard shell carrier when not in use, so my initial plan was to go with a Yakima Loadwarrior and roof top bag/soft carrier of some sort. Loadwarrior will also work on my other vehicle.

Has anyone used a roof top back without a basket? Lacking any ribbing, the Outback roof is pretty flimsy. I don't think it will bear any weight without a basket.

Which soft carriers do we like? I don't need anything huge. I've been looking at the Rola 59100 Platypus

I bought the Rage PowerSports RBG-05 Summit from DiscountRamps.com for a camping/road trip to NM last year. It's 6.5cuft worked great. I had a tent, sleeping bags and pads camp chairs and few other things with room to spare. Just put it between the cross bars on the roof with no problems. It is really well made and waterproof. If I can find a picture I will post it later.
