I'm not sure the 2 are related, unless that is grease is being forced out because the wheel bearing ate itself.

does it feel watery and gritty? might just be some rusty condensation.
Did you spin the wheel and hear any noise?

I didn't spin the wheel once the tire was off. I checked my pads and I had more material on the inner than the outer. I didn't measure that but it looked like 1/2" inner and 1/4" outer. My brakes have been squealing for quite sometime, though.
I wasn't able to reproduce the dragging sound once I left the particular parking lot I was in. But now, I'm just more concerned with this leaking grease. I didnt touch it but it wasn't flowing like watery condensation - just seemed like goo.
Is the bearing supposed to have that bend in it?

The nut holding the rotor/bearings is staked. That is how it is kept from coming loose. The grease seems to indicate that the bearing seal has failed, and it should be a unit sealed bearing, so the bearing itself has likely failed/overheated. that nut hols the half-axle into the hub. It's appearance is normal.
Your uneven brake wear may not be the cause of the noise, but may indicate some slider pins or other items need to be cleaned and lubed - or perhaps a more seruius issue with the caliper, caliper bracket, w'ever.
You could do searches here for more info and begin troubleshooting all the possible causes of noise from a wheel, but if you are not a DIY'er, taking it to someone with expertise is probably best.

With 38K on the car, it is still under warranty. Call your dealership and have them come pick it up and fix it.

Wheel bearings are covered under the "Transaxle and Differential" section of the Powertrain warranty. So he has a ways to go until he hits the 60,000 miles of the Powertrain warranty. If the seals did break, then it is covered. Subaru would also be liable for having to tow it.

Thats good to know. I did take off the other front wheel last night and it was not leaking or anything. It did have the little notch that looked bent so confirmed that is normal. guess I'll be making an appointment.

You will probably find that the jack handle has an insert in it that goes in the slot to release the jack.
dunno where they keep that tool in your car, it's clipped under the cargo 'trap door' on our 03.

:1pat: Yep your right. Boy do I feel stupid. Trying to turn that jack with a 4 inch screwdriver was kind of a pain.
jack tools are an afterthought and some manufacturers get kinda creative on placement.
plus, it seems they forgot to list number 3 anyway!
