I traded in my 2014 Outback to get the ‘18 Outback with Carplay.

When it woks it is terrific.

However, there are times the carplay won’t connect to the STARLINK.

Or ( about every 3rd drive ) the phone won’t work through the STARLINK system.

I can initiate a call but not actually talk.

The latest episode, I could not hear either. Unplugged went to Bluetooth- it did not work and had to work directly off the phone.

I’ve had one firmware update at the dealership so far.

And apparently the car linking to my home WiFi does not really update anything.

The Outback is great.

The STARLINK system is pretty frustrating.... for me anyway.

I’ll make another trip to the dealership to see why they can do about it.

Unfortunately, I think it'll continue to be like that for a while. The Starlink system on the 2018 seems like it was rushed. There won't be much the dealer can do until updates come through. In my experience, the Android Auto tends to work a little better than CarPlay. But who wants to toss their iphone....?
