My 2004 Outback has been showing signs of needing new struts to the point where I'm dangerously close to losing control when going over rough patches of roads. I did the "bounce test" and both front and back struts are bad, ball joints seem to be fine. Anybody have an idea of how much a total strut rebuild would cost me at a shop? Unfortunately I can't repair it myself since I don't have a garage.

Depending on what brand you use (KYB if keeping car long, Monroe is not. Ignore off brand stuff)...$800+ depending on what parts are replaced and labor rates local to you.

$200 - $300 per corner. all 4 equals $1,000 - $1,200.

Get KYB struts only

If they also want to replace all the mounts and add an alignment and you're in an expensive area/situation you could be looking at $1,500.

Does anyone, by any chance, have a comprehensive list of parts required to do a thorough job on this task? A list that a DYI person should get to do the job?

Thanks and regards,
