Can anyone confirm that these two ATFs are exactly the same formula and specs? Idemitsu makes the Subaru product but thus far I have found nothing online confirming these two products are the same.

Yes indeed, and when I do my next ATF drain-and-fill at 60,000 miles I will go with the Idemitsu ATF Type HP. It can be sourced for a better price than the Subaru-labeled equivalent.

It is the OEM supplier, but that doesn't really matter. The ATF-HP spec does. Beck/Arnley, Idemitsu and a few others make ATF-HP fluid. If it meets the spec, it'll work.
