Gday, for the last while when driving my 99 outback (gen 2 Aus) at higher rpms I hear a whistle from what sounds as if it's in the cabin. From what I understand there is only one vacuum line under the bonnet that actually leaves the engine bay (third line next to the fuel delivery and return) however I may be wrong. Is there any vaccum lines going into the cabin or close to it. Seems to only be audible on the driver side and can't hear it at anything under 3.5-4k rpm. This is with AC and fan off just to make sure it wasn't something from the fan.
If I were to disconnect the vaccum line from the intake manifold that runs out of the bay would it cause any issues? Plugging of the manifold of course.
Any help appreciated cheers,
Mitch

if the engine intake air filter box is misaligned at the bottom, it can make a whooshing noise.
