looks like Kevin deleted it.

no reason why a new one can not be started on this same thread by regular human members. :smile2:

to discuss customer things and funny stories from the customers point of view.

Perhaps it got reported after it started to associate specific cultures/heritage with certain stereotypical personality traits?

Not taking sides here.

But it seemed that what it was chartered to cover - an insider's view and commentary of issues from the perspective of those in the sales game - and what the thread was usually talking about - customer experiences about same - would be inherently difficult to keep apart.

Sorry, but I am not going to let this go without comment, as it falsely perpetuates the issue that was being discussed.

It was not stereotypical nor personality anything. It was a matter of realtime experiences with a population who's behaviours are rooted in a cultural origin. Let's be careful regarding assertions of cultural bias...... versus people relating experiences with cultural behaviors..... good, bad or otherwise.

I wasn’t insinuating that Kevin or any of the actual sales reps did make associations or feed stereotypes, but I am saying there were several members making posts regarding justification of said stereotypes suggestive that he (Kevin) treat people from a certain culture immediately one way because of past experience with a few, a hundred, whatever number of customers. I would hope that anyone would give me the benefit of the doubt before they dumped me into a certain demographic. Born in 83, I promise you I am not the “typical” millennial and am quite bothered by the generalization of said demographic.

That’s like saying all conservatives or racists or all liberals are socialists. Preposterous.

that sounds nice.

now try to explain that to an admin office of your employer whom has no obligation to listen to you.

Its highly likely that the better wisdom of his situation was to squelch the content that could/would require uncomfortable explanation to a party not nearly as empathetic and receptive as other people on this forum.

I was only responding to the assertion it was stereotypical and personality references...... I take no issue with dumping the thread. I know I did not cross that imaginary line...... I did relate personal experience backed up by a community of business associates...... and having multinational business experience dealing with many cultures imbedded with their own means and manner of conducting business.

yeah, i know.

but most places of business in the US are on high alert right now about anything that might have the stink of socio-political implications. So that takes precedence over even the conversations that might actually have substance.

Back on topic : I went to my local dealer and they didn't sale a single quart of Subaru high torque CVT fluid.

Only selling the 5 gallon bucket. I explained this and the service guy simply gave me a quart.

Was actually impressed by my local dealer.

I'm sure I could have done the same at Mike Shaw today. On a Sunday, No dice. I truely luv my local dealer (MS). The parts department is great. I don't much care about the rest of the place.

That's amazing Brucey. Nice to see the "customer" part of customer service still exists.

I agree. Negotiating for everything is a part of the middle eastern culture. I don't think anyone said anything derogatory in that thread.

Would hope Kevin decided to delete the thread because like many threads it kept getting off track.

In its previous version, we were trying to estimate the true dealer cost of a Subaru outback from its invoice price. Maybe none of us know the complete math but we can combine all our knowledge and come up with a decent estimate.

People like Kevin and Carl may be able to share their estimates as well (if their employers allow them).

So let's us pull together our estimates for

1. Vehicle hold back (2 to 3% ?)
2. Floor plan reimbursement
3. Local Advertising support
4. Other elements.

In my simple understanding true dealer cost will be invoice price minus all incentives and rebates.

I am hoping to better understand dealer economics and also figure out how a dealer can sell a car $2600 below invoice and still make a profit.

In keeping with the thread title, thought I would share a dealer story.

Had a text from my son earlier this afternoon that the CarMax he works at was being surrounded by the police.

Seems two upstanding citizens were trying to sell them an '08 Camry. Oddly no title, just a bill of sale.

They did not know that CarMax runs the vin of every car they buy through a national stolen car database. Car came back as being stolen 2 years ago. Salesman stalls and police notified.

No cash for them, just dinner being provided by the Roswell, Ga police department.

Some crooks are so dumb..........
