Hi everyone. Proud owner of a 2010 Outback. I am delivering a ladder to a friend tomorrow, and I went ahead and loaded it just now and got it all tied in securely. It's too long to shut the hatch. So now the hatch open light is on. I don't want it to drain the battery before I leave tomorrow, and I'd rather not untie and unload the ladder. Is there an EASY way to temporarily disengage the door open indicator light?

That doesn't really make any sense as you could have some hanging over the hood and some past the hatch. Your way has all of it hanging out the back, and lower at that. Tie it up like a canoe.

Irregardless of that...

Your battery isn't going to die from the dash light being on. I've left map lights and the rear cargo lamp on all night and still started the car.

Save your interior learn how to lash stuff to the roof rack! Unless the ladder is over 20ft long it will ride on the roof just fine.
