Before I commit to buying a new OB, I'd like to confirm that it works with my smartphone, especially Android Auto since that's an important feature for me. So is it likely that a sales person would just let me plug my phone into a car on the lot? I'm not going to be buying for a while so it wouldn't be a car that I've picked out, and I wouldn't want to mess anything up for the eventual owner.

And is that all I have to do? Just connect it to the USB port? My phone is a Nexus 5x with Android 8.0 and I do have the app installed.

I took an 18 limited out for a test ride and plugged my Galaxy S7 edge in and launched android auto and it seemed to work just fine. Also had it playing local radio station while google maps was running on android auto. I wanted to know the same thing.
