Driving into deep water before you check it is stupid. A local news caster hit deep floodwaters in the dark on the way home a few years ago. He nearly drowned was driving a outback. Water is no joke.
Could be any of the roads I've been on in Oregon and Washington which have been hit by a huge very wet storm just this past week. Here in Northern CA we have seen nearly 6 inches of rain in the past 48hrs in some places. The hose syphon running on my pool for the past 15hrs has done nothing but keep the pool where it was when I started it!that picture is really bizarre. where is all that water coming from and i can't believe that car is moving...or is that perspective playing tricks, maybe the car isn't as submerged as it appears?
and why do i see grass on the seemingly "lower" ground below..the power line poles are obviously sloping "down" as the picture appears, but the ground is all dry there and this subaru is in feet of water?...that's just strange.
LOL - very true! We always take the subaru when its looking like a snow storm is going to roll through. 4x4 part time truck doesn't handle the on road snow anywhere near as good as the full time AWD system the subaru has. However my old AWD Land Cruiser was a close second handled and drove beautifully in the snow.I live in MN so I am constantly driving in snow, water, ice, dirt roads, muddy two tracks etc. I love watching all the guys with their 4x4 trucks with cheap lifts and glass packs go in the ditch on a snowy highway after apparently not realizing the 4x4 doesn't help you stop! Anyways from many years of winter driving I never thought I would feel the need for AWD since a front FWD car with good tires and a competent driver shouldn't have problems most of the time. That all changed when I got the subie and drove on unplowed streets after an 18" snowstorm and up and down hills etc. The AWD makes this thing almost unstoppable in snow and with the power shifting for traction I'll take it anyday over true 4WD for snow/ice/rain etc. These days when a storm hits and they advise no travel I delight in taking out the car to run errands while the stores are all empty!
