no problems that i know of from personal experience. i just see articles on illegal imports a lot on facebook. i really have my fingers crossed i can get my friend into rallyx. i wanna try rwd, it looks like so much fun. that video of the juke vs. 510 was pretty cool.

the guy i rode along with at crystal waters said he just got a '15 legacy and he loves it. he said a few people there have subies. i was explaining how my daughter said "maybe someone at your job interview will have a subaru."

oh ya, yesterday we went to preregister for that subaru record thing. i really wanna volunteer at the olympus rally but the wife is going to some stupid country music concert that weekend so i cant.
what-else comes after DMB,.=modern cuntry sucks ?

RWD is the funnest thing on dirt....it is not about winning it is about having fun....I saw pics of one of those ultra light Datsun 510s running the Baja 1000 in Mexico,...probalby no Washington Rally X mud bogs to get stuck in there....maybe you take it and subaru AWD power it....engine bay looks narrow though.

oh well, ...the right rally car is a impreza that you can put one great cage in it,...and then couple and uncouple the drive shafts right away to go from AWD to Front to RWD at lunch time. so you can pick your races and keep using the same car....and 5 years later drop a hotter engine in it and still have the same great cage saving your bacon....with a good cage you can wreck sideways at 120mph into a tire barrier and laugh with little J about it.

I linked a jalopnik article on the subject of seized imports the other day:

i forgot about disconnecting the front driveshaft. i really want a '94ish impreza awd hopefully with a sti engine. i wouldn't cage it until im ready for rally sprint and stage rally. or when jorja is old enough to ride up front. my friend is getting an '01 miata from flyin' miata that has 260 whp. i miata would be perfect for rwd rallyx, but that much power i dont know.

Ick, a Miata.

anybody running RX7 or RX8 ? (RX8 seem to be the car of choice for tarmac racing with big budgets).

...these mazadas made for actual full size humans. as opposed to the lolly pop guild ...or happy little snow people.

well, if im ever allowed a race car, itll probably be a justy. i didn't fill out my w4 correctly at my last job so no taxes were taken out. we get virtually no tax return this year.
i forgot about this pic from sunday

from preregistration for the subaru world record attempt. no one showed up for that part cuz you can do it online. but it was at a waterfall park so it was a great place to take the family. even though the wife was sick, she took notice to all the people gawking at my car while Jorja and I were at the playland in Mcdonalds.

also Jorja found another use for my tow hook https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10202655054577676&pnref=story

read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Legacy_(first_generation)#Motorsports

and then look here:

https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/4897401188.html

this guy's wife wants him to get rid of it,...and you kind of have a place to park it, maybe you could share it.

from the pics it looks like he has a place to work on it and keep it in repair.
and he even has a playmate for Suzie.

an older legacy would be a consideration, but absolutely no money yet. im not supposed to start til march 2nd or so. the wife is really pissed so i dont expect to have extra money til maybe summer.
are there any cars/trucks out there that have a normal rwd drivetrain, with push button 4wd? it can't be that easy to switch from awd to rwd at a rallycross, plus thats a recipe for disaster. i remembered seeing this in the $2000 challenge BangShift.com grassroots motorsports jeep

but it dawned on me how unreliable an amc or chrysler would be so im thinking about a 01-04 pathfinder with 4x4 and the 3.5l v6, and MT if i was lucky enought to find it.

01-04 pathfinders are pretty nice. (some had the first hill decent control in something cheaper then a turd Land Rover Freelander)

toyota with a 22RE is of course a great choice.

beware: old 1990s ford ranger / F150 had "shift on the fly" FWD with a simple button on the dash. however, 99% of those today would have "Warn" branded manual dial locking hubs on the front.

as the ford plastic hubs were about as good as if they were made by Frito Lays and prohibitively expensive out of warranty.

I think your wife could feasibly let you get a race truck,...something nice to take to the hardware store or the dump,...or to cart around race tires / wheels in the bed vs. dirtying up the inside.

this is a 1994:

i dont know why i didn't think about this sooner. all i need is a street legal vehicle. this is so close to being street legal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHy_yq_8RpE#t=88

oh ya, my heavy duty springs really helped today

that little buggy needs some fenders so it does not throw rocks at the neighboring cars, turn signals, and some on road /off road tires.

and little J,...they make some with 2nd rows for Susie.

I like how the radiator and gas tank is mounted way up high, ...that is to keep them free of the mud bog water.

Edit: are you taking all the scrap metal out of the woods,...like a good egg?

now im wondering how big of a trailer id need to pull that.

i sold all that metal, thought id get more. i feel really ripped off. i got the same amount for like 1/10th of that metal, lots of heavy iron in there. used the roof rack so i could take as much as i could, those were bigger items.
now im wondering how big of a trailer id need to pull that

on the flat, maybe a 3000-5000 pound one, (depends on the curb weight)

...open rack tandem wheels with brakes,

with a garage tent to put it all in. (this is cheaper then a enclosed trailer,...and you get more garage).
i need a 5x10 trailer which should weigh 720 lbs. that thing is 1366 lbs. i can tow this with the truckster!
did you see this ever,...I know you don't watch much top gear,...(neither do I until recently)....the episode suggesting it is cheaper to budget rally vs. playing club membership golf.

I just watched this last week, lol! :grin2:
i really wish you could do that kind of rallyx in the US, that looks like so much fun. 1 huge factor about me wanting a dune buggy is that i can pull it with my outback. driving on the streets in a race car is such a bad idea. and with cheap cars i wouldn't trust em to drive the 4hr round trip before and after the event. im gonna need a trailer anyway so this is just the best solution.

you could go one seater and get it even lighter and faster.
i cant find any single seaters. i like this one, except its chinese. it has a 5MT but 108hp and weighs about 100lbs. more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM2HQ5LRnPA
hey brad I was just looking at post 3 of this big thread

was that Susie's puppy foot prints on the bumper or some other little dog back in 2012?
