2009 Outback has an additional 1,200 miles since the prior oil change and tire rotation of 7.5 months ago.

I am going to have the oil changed according to the Subaru schedule, but is the tire rotation worthwhile in this case?

Go by miles.

I agree on miles, but tires can get "out of round" if the car sits too long so make sure it moves at least once a month.

In your case, I would do it by miles, BUT inspect the tires when you change the oil. They will probably dry rot before they wear out.
