The Range of accuracy for tire pressure gauges is pretty wide also.
I have 4 or 5 that migrate around the house and between cars and bikes etc. They can range between 2-10lbs different depending which gauges I use.
With the Subaru the TPMS light goes off nearly instantly after I have aired up the tires enough to meet the minimum spec thresh hold on the TPMS system. Pretty sure if I used the gauge that seems to always read 10lbs low and filled the tires just barely to the minimum spec that the TPMS would probably stay on in cold temps. In cold locations you need to up the pressure slightly to keep the TPMS from triggering.
