Hi. Hubby getting ready to sell F150 and order a 2022 OB Wilderness XT. I have a dream of owning a certain fiberglass trailer and am wondering how this is going to work. Has anyone pulled a 2,500 trailer with the Outback 3,500 towing capacity? Please share. (I called the trailer manufacturer and was told this was perfectly fine but would like to hear from an OB/trailer owner.)

If you are going to tow occasionally I'm sure the Wilderness XT will be sufficient but if this is intended for frequent or long distance towing I'd get the Ascent with a 5000 pound tow rating and 500 pound tongue weight, particularly if the dry/empty weight of your trailer is 2,500 pounds. If it's 2,500 pounds fully loaded it should be fine with the Outback.

2020 Towing Capacity

Figured I'd start an argument. Interesting note, the 2020 2.5L naturally aspirated model with the OEM hitch lists (2700lbs trailer/270lbs tongue), while the 2.4L Turbo lists a higher capacity now with the same hitch (3500lbs trailer/350lbs tongue). Ok. Discuss among yourselves.
