I've had my '15 Outback limited for about a week now. So far, so good.

On my last two cars with Infotainment systems, they have had firmware updates every so often. You just download it from the Ford website on a flashdrive and plug it in to the car. Does Subaru provide anything like that? I didn't see anything mentioned in the manual.

Also, is there a similar update for the Navigation system?

So it is a dealer install, it looks like.

It is intended to be dealer installed, but many (myself included) have obtained the necessary files and performed the update themselves. It takes about 45 minutes, and the only "tools" required are two 4GB USB flash drives. There is a good chance that it's already installed in your Legacy.

There are also infrequent updates to NAV map data, which can be owner installed. There are threads on the subject here on the Outback forum and also on the Legacy forum.
