Hello everyone. I’ve been reading for a while but first time post. I put a deposit today on a 2018 2.5i Premium and am excitedly awaiting its arrival. Once it gets here, I’m putting Primitive skid plates and a 1.5” Primitive lift kit on it. I’m also putting on Geolandar A/T G015 225/70 R16 tires on.

I’m still kinda trying to figure out the wheels. My driving will be mostly road and commuting, but I’m buying this car because I want to be able to get off-road and get to hard-to-reach places. So when it’s time to get off-road, I don’t want the car to come up short. I was recommended Sparco Terra wheels, and I’m sure they’d be great, but I just don’t like their look. I found the Vision Bane wheels on Discount Tire’s site. The stock wheels on the Outback are rated at 1600 lbs. per wheel. The Bane is rated at 1800. I figure that’s a good sign. I’m considering the 16x7 38mm offset wheels. I guess as a newbie, I can’t post URL links, but you can easily find them on Discount Tire’s website.

Anyone have any experience with these or know anything about them or the brand reputation? Thanks in advance!

I could be wrong but I dont know if those wheels will clear your brakes. You’ll probably need 17” wheels. I don’t know about the Sparcos but Methods are designed differently in the barrel area allowing more brake clearance. A quick glance at pricing and I’m going to say I sincerely doubt those wheels are going to clear.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. I”m not sure how you figure that out. I’ll see if I can do some more research. How do you know when looking for wheels whether they should fit the brakes? Thanks.

Thanks, Patrikman. After some wearying research, I believe you're right. Best to stick with the stock 17" rims.

Sometimes it’s trial and error. Sometimes it depends on how forthcoming the company is on info and how they do customer relations.

Congratulations on your new Outback. You must be super excited. I know I would be. With your big brake package, the 17-inch size is the way to go. I have had the Yokohama Geolandar G015 tires on my FJ Cruiser since last June. They have been a fantastic tire. They ride smooth, are quiet and give great traction.

We have them available in 225/65R-17. Here is a link to them:

DiscountTire, I can't PM you yet, since I'm so new, but maybe you can PM me an email address where I can ask you something.
