I have a 2001 Outback with 122k miles on it. Car is in pretty darned good shape all around, but with a blown engine. I haven't pulled the engine apart yet, but things didn't go well when it went *poof*. I'm working with the assumption that it's more than just a simple head gasket.

Anyway, I'm trying to decide between fixing it on the cheapest dime possible, or just parting it out.

What's the desirability on general used parts for these things? Bumper to bumper, roof-rack to tires, the car is in really good shape.

Thanks.

Very active part-out market for that vintage. That works both ways for you- not hard to get an engine, or a decent payoff for stripping the rest.
