First off note that a long skinny head ie whats used on a I4 engine type will warp and need replacing if a HG fails and isnt fixed right away.

Subaru heads only cover two cylinders half the size very compact and resistant to warping.

Also pay attention to the examples of piston Sleeve support within the block ie what creates block rigidity / strength thus lowering the chances of movement between the block deck and the head thus stressing a HG.
