I had a bad Timken a few months ago. My alignment was spot on. It failed in less than 1k Miles.
When I had a Chinese-manufactuired SKF bearing installed, my mechanic pretty much assured me that it would last 12-15 months. He's a Subaru specialist and that's what he's been seeing for the last couple of years with years. I ordered the SKF thinking it was still reliably manufactured, but most are just re-packaged Chinese stuff. If you want a quality bearing, go with Subaru OEM or NTN (OEM supplier). NSK might still be a safe brand. On a positive note, he reckons it'll be pretty easy to replace after only ~1yr on the car. ;-)
