They are suppose to be connected when a Subaru technician is performing the diagnostics on a vehicle.

See 2nd response. If possible, sneak into jogosub's car and plug his together.

I believe they put the ECU into a test mode. It cycles relays and will cause your check engine light to flash. Leave them unplugged unless you're dying to see what happens .

Dealer check connector, Designed to allow service personnel an ability to run test emmissions and control sensors/and devices from the service techs stall, on Gen. 1 and 2 Legacy/Outbacks it is under the drivers dash, on Gen 3 it is under passenger dash, and should be tucked below the carpet, on Gen 4 it has been eliminated as a connector under the dash.

It is a vary valuable tool when you are chasing bad relays, bad radiator fans, smog valves, etc.

Thanks for the replies and information. They are tucked away, I found them (whiloe changing my cabin filter) and remembered them from my Impreza so I figured it was something intentional.
