Hi, I just got a used 2008 OB with 17 inch stock mags and we get lots of salt and snow in Quebec so I wanted to know if anyone has put WRX wheels on with snows? I'm getting rid of my old Subaru but thought maybe I should keep the rims for winters. Has anyone put 2002 WRX 16 inch rims on an 06 - 09 Outback using minus sizing? I know the rim is narrower but often that is suggested for winter driving. My OB currently has 225/55R17 and I was thinking to put the 16 inch WRX rims on with 215/65R16's The tire size is a tiny bit larger over all so the speed variance is .96% too slow according to 1010 tires calculator.

In a week or two I'll try putting the rims on the car for clearance but until then Any thoughts from those who have similar experience would be helpful.

Thanks!

I believe so, but I a running General Grabbers instead of dedicated winter tires. We have to many mirical 70degree days to run true winter tires.

I had stock rims w/215/65/16 Grabbers on my 02 OBS and have been wondering if I could but that exact set up my 07 Outback - I'm glad I came across this thread. Thank you.
:)

So it looks like I will be looking to trade/sell my 225/55/17 set up pretty soon.

have had my 16 in 02 WRX wheels on my 08 OB since I got it
works fine. I run 215/65-16 because that is actually closer to the 225/50-17 RE 92A OEM size than the 225/60-16

Ah good to know. As it turns out, I will have to stick with my 17in rims since I am putting LGT brakes all around. Once I add a lift, I should be able to squeak out a larger tire - we'll see, still more research to do.

Thanks for the follow up.
