Windsheild tint strip

Just wondering how those who have the windshield tint strip feel about it. I am going to be tinting my windows in the next week or so and the guy at the counter said he would give me the next highest film for what I paid for as well as a cut rate for the window strip. Doing the strip, though, basically puts me at the original price for the job itself. If anyone is curious, the film we discussed at the shop was FormulaOne Pinnacle and I was quoted $335 plus another $45 for the strip.

I think the windshield strip is ugly, but just my opinion. I paid $160 to tint the entire vehicle. 15% on the front two, and 4% on the rest.

I wish we could limo tint here in OR.
$160 would be nice. The cheapest I have found it, that isn't a dyed film variety, from a reputable shop was 290 something and it was a metallic type, which I guess can have an effect on cell phones and gps and similar devices. I plan on having this car till it doesn't run any more so I don't mind getting something nice for it, but for the price I am seriously considering attempting the job myself. I think I am with you on the windshield strip being ugly. I liked it on my dads car but that sort of thing suites a sports car.
Doesn't OB already tinted at the very top of windshield?
I have always put the strip on the front windshield of my vehicles. However, for my '13 OB, I did not put a strip across the top, just did the two front doors. It already has some dark transitioning at the top of the windshield. The tint shop said if i wanted it done, come back and it would only be $20 if I change my mind and want it. After about two weeks, I am happy with no strip across the top. ymmv.
Don't make it too dark!

Watch out how "dark" you get the windows. Being in Florida you can get darker windows than Georgia... However we got a ticket last year in GA driving back home from TN for having windows that were "too" dark even though the car is registered in FL and had legal tint there.

Even though they were legal in FL and we were just passing through, did not matter to him... He put some sensor on the glass to tell him what % the tint was on the front windows.

The reason for the tint limit is not for the driver's safety but the cops. They want to be able to see the front passengers as they apporach the vehicle for thier safety they don't care about the back windows. And that is silly because they have no limit on the back window.. so someone in the back seat could have a Bazooka pointed at them and they would not see it..

That ticket cost more than the instal on the tint.... :(
When pulled over, roll down all windows. No threat to cops with windows down and no probable cause to make you raise them. ;-)

MA is pretty tough, too...35% limit all around, and they'll certainly stop you for it.
I had a strip installed when I got the HuperOptik on my WRX. I told the guy to use the same he was putting on the windows. He wisely tried to talk me into a darker strip but I refused.

Shoulda listened to him. But I have no regrets about having it - just shoulda got darker.
