Subaru NZ have just launched a new limited edition WRX to fit between the WRX and the WRX STi - personally I dont know why they bothered with 2 very good alternatives available at the moment - maybe there is hope for the Outback XT being imported as a limited edition too ....just hoping!

Here is the article if anyone is interested:

WRX Limited arrives
It's SWRT blue and a half way house between a standard Impreza WRX and the full blown Impreza WRX STI. It's the new Impreza WRX WR (World Rally) Limited.
A limited edition Impreza WRX which provides performance levels halfway between a standard WRX and the Impreza WRX STI has arrived in New Zealand.

The Impreza WRX WR Limited comes with a 184 kWs version of the two litre turbocharged motor fitted to the standard 168 kWs WRX. This provides a 9.5 percent increase of power at the same 6000 rpm and an 11 percent increase of torque from 300 to 333 Nm at 3600 rpm.

Apart from the changes under the bonnet, the WRX WR Limited has a distinctive appearance with an STI big rear wing, the STI front bumper with additional chin spoiler, the STI rear bumper and side skirts and Subaru World Rally Team decals on the rear wing, front mudguards and front fog light aperture covers and gold 17 inch alloy wheels.

And the WRX WR Limited is available in any colour as long as it is SWRT blue!

Other features unique to the WR Limited are a rear windscreen wiper, electrically retractable door mirrors, which have power adjustment and tinted rear windows.

Inside the cabin is an Alpine MP3 capable CD sound system. The high backed sports rally seats have blue inserts with SWRT logos, with matching blue door trims and carpet. The instrument panel has the same electro-luminescent dials as the STI and three litre Legacy and Outback and there is an alloy gear lever knob.

And all the standard features of the WRX are carried over to the WR Limited model.

These include the five speed manual gearbox with symmetrical All Wheel Drive transmission, four wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS and EBD, dual front air bags and side anti-intrusion beams.

An engine immobiliser and Mongoose security system together with DataDot vehicle marking is standard, as is the three year unlimited kilometres warranty.

Interior features include a height adjustable steering column, semi automatic air conditioning system, remote central locking, cruise control, alloy pedals and footrest, Momo leather covered steering wheel, height adjustable driver's seat, power steering, electric windows and leather covered handbrake lever.

The Impreza WRX WR Limited is available for $49,990.
