Has any one put a larger/wider tire on an XT. There doesn't look to be a whole lot of extra room as the front tire turns in the wheel well.

I put a set of 235/50X17 instead of 225/55. About 0.5 inch wider tread, slightly smaller OD resulting in about 3% speedo error. No clearance problems, though.

I had 245/45/17 Continental Extreme Contact DWS mounted on the stock wheels on my 2005 XT. They really looked good in the wheel wells and the car handled much better, also the best winter all season tires I've ever owned. I noticed a very small scuff mark on the body inside of the rear tires, not enough to remove the paint so it must have hit on compression rarely.

I needed new tires at the end of the summer and was thinking of selling the car so put on some used tires. I decided to keep my XT and will be buying these exact tires once again.

I put 17X8 with 35 offset and 255/50R17s much wider. much nicer foot print.
