'05 Outback Horn Location?

I just ordered a 130 db low tone horn and relay to supplement the typical Japanese "squeaky toy" on my Outback (my motorcycles have more authoritative horns).

One little problem--I cannot find the location of the stock horns in the engine compartment (I believe there are two?--and hope to replace just one with the low tone honker). :(

Any help out there? Once located, any suggestions on wiring in aftermarket horn? If in fact there are 2 stock horns, do I need the relay? Thanks in advance.

The horns are powered by a stock relay located in the engine compartment.

The horns are under the airbox, above the fog lights. They are accessable by peeling back the leading edge of the passenger side fender liner (edge up by front bumper) or by removal of the airbox and lower air box resonator chamber (comes out as 1 piece).

Both are fairly easy to remove (airbox or fender liner), but I found it easier to work on my back (peel back fender liner) than to work all bent over (removal of airbox and resonating chamber).

There are 2 horns and they are very weak and anemic. I HIGHLY reccomend this horn.

At 135dB, it's the loudest I've been able to find without resorting to Truck style long tube airhorns. It also has a good "big car/truck" sound. It may seem steep at $39.99, but it sells for the same amount on ebay. I've installed 5-6 of these things on my vehicles and for friends. Never had one fail, and everyone loves them.

Is the wheelwell liner held in by any clips at the outer edge or does it literally "peel back"? Also, if I replace only one stock horn, will the OEM relay be good for the remaining stock and new horn? Thanks

The fenderwell liner is held in place by 2 or 3 of those plastic push/expand plugs. They are easy to remove. Then the "lip" of the fenderwell liner will come down like a flap (I wore a hat and just used my head to keep it out of the way).

The horn is easy to install as there is quite a bit of room in that fenderwell location. You can nestle the horn just above the fog light and just below the headlight (just enough room).

The hard part is gettiing the damn stock horns outta there. They are mounted to a bracket that has the bolt head pointed towards the FRONT of the car. (they must install them before the front bumper is installed). Anyway, since that nut/bolt points forwards, it's damn near impossilbe to see, you can "feel" where it is with your hands/fingers. You'll need a small short rachet or a small wrench to get it off (and a wee bit of cursing).

To be safe, I installed my own 12V Feed from the battery and used the stock horn wiring to trigger the relay (included with the horn when U buy it). I didn't want to risk blowing any stock fuses or relays. the horn only draws 3amps, but I figured better safe than sorry... and it came with the relay, so might as well use it.
